Female journalist gets $1920 after registering on webcam site

COVID-19 has continued to disrupt many industries and while some have struggled, others like the adult entertainment industry have thrived.

Since lockdown measures were enforced, many adult websites witnessed a massive increase in online traffic, largely due to the number of people stuck indoors and craving intimacy. The COVID-19 crisis made it extremely difficult to gain access to sexual partners and while nothing can completely replace physical touch, some people are instead finding relief with digital sex workers popularly known as cam girls.

A female journalist who was keen to get in on the act—and take a closer look at the profitability of webcam modelling—created a profile for herself on a leading adult webcam site, BongaCams and the results she got were astonishing. In just a few days of registering on the site, she made $1,920 working only a few hours everyday. On top of this, she didn’t have to share any adult content as she made an exclusive broadcast wearing only a swimwear and discussing with her audience on random popular non-sexual topics.

BongaCams is ranked 36th in Alexa’s rating of the most visited websites in the world and to join the platform, the ladies just need to be 18 years old or above as required by law. Since it has no other special requirement, it has become the most preferred platform for many girls to earn a decent amount of money during the lockdown.

While speaking to the journalist, some BongaCam models, a lady and another couple admitted that the platform has been a great opportunity to earn a good amount of money from the comfort of their living rooms—and without learning any special skill. For Emma, a webcam model based in Washington, U.S., joining BongaCams completely changed her life, she said in a report.

“If someone told me six months ago how sharply my life would change, I wouldn’t believe it!” she said in an Instagram post after making $28,296.03 in just one month of working during the lockdown as a webcam model on BongaCams.

Today, the competition keeps growing as there are many more girls who are registering on the site in a bid to make more money on the platform by offering a wide range of services to their subscribers.
